On Sunday, March 25, 2018 at approximately 9:30 a.m., an officer with the Pittsburg Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing an illegal registration in the area of 22nd and Broadway, in Pittsburg. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle fled northbound on Broadway and continued North on 69 highway where a Crawford County Deputy joined the pursuit. The suspect vehicle continued north on highway 69, then turned west on highway 47. As the suspect entered the City of Girard, a Girard Police Officer deployed a stop-stick tire deflation device. The suspect driver swerved his vehicle at the Girard Police Officer, who was able to get out of the way of the vehicle as it passed and struck the stop stick device.
The suspect driver continued west out of the City of Girard on highway 47, then turned north on highway 3. The suspect driver continued north on 3 highway until he lost control of his vehicle and entered a ditch near the intersection with 660 Avenue, where the driver was arrested by officers and deputies.
The suspect, identified as Logan Miles Secrist, 28, of Fort Scott, Kansas was charged by Pittsburg Officers as follows:
In addition to the Pittsburg charges, the suspect will face additional charges filed by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Girard Police Department.
