Pittsburg Community Theatre

The City of Pittsburg and Memorial Auditorium & Convention Center supports PCT, a non-profit theatre organization serving Southeast Kansas, who is housed in Memorial Auditorium, 503 N. Pine. Each year this organization produces three mainstage shows and a two-week summer drama workshop for youth.

Jr. Starz Children’s Theatre Workshop

An intensive, two-week children’s theatre workshop during the summer that culminates in a free performance for the community on Friday night.The workshop focuses on acting, singing, dancing, art and music appreciation, and the chance for youth to help create sets, props and costuming.

Times: 8:00 a.m. – Noon OR 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Performance Date: June 23
Notes: Class size limited to first 40 registrations received.

A variety of classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and performance designed for first timers up to advanced dancers. Classes are offered for boys and girls beginning at two years and older. Start here to learn and build on knowledge and technique.

Pittsburg Idol

A singing competition for area youth ages four to eighteen with a live on-stage audition at the Little Balkans Festival followed by a finalist event to determine the best of best!


Date: September 2
Details: Participants must pre-register to audition. A maximum of two minutes to sing with or without background music. Participants must supply a quality track/song on a CD; no ipods, MP3s, etc will be accepted. Music does not have to start at the beginning of a song but participants are highly advised to choose a song with a short intro or altering the start point to maximize performance. No profanity, sexual/racial slang, or glitter; use will result in disqualification. Results will be posted on Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Facebook page.
